Lumibird Unveils ABSolu–ICL Guru Integration at ESCRS

September 29, 2025

At the 2025 ESCRS Congress in Copenhagen, Lumibird Medical introduced a major upgrade to its ABSolu ultrasound platform, now featuring seamless integration with the ICL Guru (REVAI platform). This enhancement aims to elevate the accuracy and efficiency of implantable collamer lens (ICL) sizing, offering eye care professionals a new level of precision in refractive surgery planning.

A key component of the integration is Lumibird Medical’s linear UBM 50 MHz probe, which is used to obtain Sulcus-to-Sulcus (STS) measurements. These measurements offer an internal view of ocular anatomy, providing an alternative to the traditional White-to-White (WTW) approach that relies on external landmarks. STS measurements are considered by some clinicians to offer a more anatomically representative basis for ICL sizing.

Linear UBM Probe Enhances Anterior Imaging

The linear UBM probe enables perpendicular imaging of anterior segment structures, providing detailed visualization of the sulcus and iridociliary angles. This approach may offer clearer images of intraocular anatomy, particularly structures located behind the iris, which can be useful when selecting ICLs based on individual ocular characteristics.

Data Integration and Clinical Support Tools

The enhanced ABSolu platform features:

       • Automatic STS measurements

       • DICOM connectivity

These capabilities allow for the secure and direct transfer of ultrasound imaging data to ICL Guru, a clinical decision-support tool used by refractive surgeons. The integration is designed to improve the accuracy of ICL sizing, support vault prediction, and contribute to lens stability, particularly in cases where traditional sizing methods may be less reliable.

The technology is especially beneficial in cases where WTW-based sizing may lead to suboptimal outcomes, thereby supporting more consistent and safer postoperative results.

Lumibird confirmed that the ABSolu–ICL Guru integration is now commercially available to eye care professionals worldwide.
