Haag-Streit Launches Elara 900 and Refractor 900

Haag-Streit has announced the launch of two major innovations, the Elara 900 slit lamp and the Refractor 900 digital phoropter. These devices will make their international debut at the ESCRS 2025 Congress in Copenhagen and their U.S. premiere at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting in October 2025.

Elara 900 Slit Lamp: New Features for Enhanced Ocular Imaging

The Elara 900 features a projector-based “P-Type” light source, developed to complement Haag-Streit’s established optical quality. According to the company, this combination enhances the visualization of fine ocular structures across various clinical settings.

Key innovations include:

• One-touch intelligent presets for instant application of customized examination settings

• Motorized height and magnification controls for rapid and seamless adjustment

• Optional dual-camera configuration enabling immersive 3D and 4K image and video capture*

• Ergonomic enhancements such as inclined oculars, a wide headrest, and strategically placed controls to reduce clinician strain

The Elara 900 is positioned to support not only high-precision diagnostics but also medical education and clinical documentation.

Refractor 900 Digital Phoropter: Key Features and Integration Capabilities

The Refractor 900 is engineered to optimize the refraction process with a focus on speed, precision, and comfort. Its high-precision mechanical system supports:

• Ultra-fast lens transitions

• 1/8-diopter sphere and cylinder adjustments

• Real-time video imaging for accurate vertex distance measurement

Additional features include:

• Customizable refraction sequences tailored to clinical workflows

• Quiet motor and transparent lens carrier for a less distracting exam experience

• Ergonomic touchscreen interface and control layout for improved usability

• EMR integration, multi-device compatibility, and direct control of tools such as the Acuity Chart 900

These capabilities are designed to streamline operations while improving patient outcomes through consistent and efficient data handling.
