Corza Medical has launched the SensorTek ROP Kit, a single-use product designed for performing retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) examinations. According to the company, this is the first and only single-use kit currently available that includes a diagnostic lens specifically developed for neonatal ophthalmology.
The SensorTek ROP Kit has been developed to address the specific requirements of ROP screening in premature infants. Corza Medical states that the kit is intended to streamline clinical workflow and reduce the risk of cross-contamination, allowing each examination to be conducted with sterile instruments and a high-quality, clear diagnostic lens.
Components of the SensorTek ROP Kit:
• 28D Diagnostic Lens (K30-2415): Designed for retinal visualization in infants.
• Blink Single-Use Stainless Steel Pediatric Speculum (31-3103): For safe eyelid retraction.
• Blink Single-Use Ergonomic Epley Scleral Depressor (51-0004): Intended to provide ergonomic handling and control.
Dr. David Epley, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Children’s Eye Care in Kirkland, Washington, commented on the practical application of the SensorTek ROP Kit:
“Having the right instruments at our side is essential when caring for these small and fragile patients. ROP examinations must be performed with speed and precision to accurately assess the infant while minimizing risk. A single-use, all-in-one kit that includes the lens helps pediatric ophthalmologists deliver sterile, consistent, and efficient care to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.”
Corza Medical describes the SensorTek diagnostic lens as incorporating an anti-reflective coating, which is intended to:
• Prevent scratches
• Minimize optical scatter
• Improve image contrast
• Maintain compatibility with laser transmission
In addition to the single-use option, SensorTek lenses are also available in reusable formats, offering flexibility for clinical preferences.
