In a landmark move that expands its network to 60 locations, The Optical Company (TOC) has officially acquired all three Adelaide Eye Care (AEC) optometry practices. This expansion is the first major acquisition for TOC in 2024, adding to a diverse portfolio that includes The Optical Co, Kevin Paisley Optometrists, LensPro, The Eye Place, Stacey & Stacey Optometrists, Optical Warehouse, and the nib Eye Care Centres.
The newly acquired AEC practices are located in Mawson Lakes, Blackwood, and Westbourne Park, further solidifying TOC's commitment to providing top-tier optometry services across Australia.
This strategic acquisition follows the purchase of TOC’s parent company, Healthia, by Pacific Equity Partners in December 2023, situating TOC as a pivotal component of Healthia's Eyes & Ears division.
Adelaide Eye Care, established in 1982 and led by the optometry duo Mr. René Malingré and Ms. Liz Capper since 2003, is renowned for its dedication to advancing diagnostic technology, personalized optical dispensing, and a strong history in contact lens expertise. "We are excited to have found an alignment with The Optical Company to strengthen our legacy and expand the business," Malingré commented, reflecting on the merger's potential to enhance care standards and grow the practice's reach.
Aaron Kangisser, COO of TOC, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the alignment in values and focus on optometry care between AEC and the broader TOC network. Kangisser expressed enthusiasm about working with the AEC team, aiming to usher in a new growth phase while preserving the independent spirit and high care standards that define AEC practices.
