Nidek announced that it has received the CE Mark for its NP-1/NP-1C Preloaded IOL Injection System. This system boasts a fully preloaded design with an aspheric hydrophobic soft acrylic lens. The CE Mark signifies conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area.
The NP-1/NP-1C injector has been meticulously developed to facilitate smooth and controlled delivery of the lens, ensuring a safer and more secure implantation process. Utilizing a straightforward two-step operation, users simply fill the viscoelastic material and press the plunger for swift and effortless lens deployment. Nidek emphasizes the importance of the dual silicone ring on the plunger, which maintains optimal and constant resistance, thereby guaranteeing stable, consistent, and safe delivery of the IOL.
At the heart of this innovative system lies the Aktis SP IOL, preloaded within the NP-1/NP-1C injector. This IOL incorporates a stable lens material and groundbreaking design features, as highlighted by Nidek. Notably, the optimized length and 90° haptic design, known as the Anchor Wing Loop, enhance the contact area with the capsular bag, resulting in a more stable and well-centered IOL implantation.
One notable feature of the NP-1/NP-1C system is its versatility. Available in a broad spectrum of powers ranging from 1.0 D to 30.0 D, all can be effortlessly delivered using the same system and technique. This streamlined approach simplifies the process for practitioners and enhances overall efficiency in clinical settings.
Initially available in Japan and various parts of Asia, the NP-1/NP-1C Preloaded IOL Injection System is now set to make its debut in Europe.
