ENTOD Pharmaceuticals Introduces Novel Eye Drop Preservative System

July 17, 2024

Mumbai-based ENTOD Pharmaceuticals has unveiled a novel advancement in ophthalmic care with the introduction of EyeBS, a new eye drop preservative system. EyeBS is specifically designed to supplant traditional detergent-based preservatives such as Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) and Polyquaternium-1, offering a safer and more effective alternative for long-term eye care.

The key innovation of EyeBS lies in its formulation—a proprietary ionic buffer blend featuring borate, sorbitol, propylene glycol, and zinc. This composition not only ensures the sterility of ophthalmic solutions but also mitigates adverse reactions commonly associated with conventional preservatives.

Unlike its predecessors, EyeBS is engineered to function as an oxidising preservative with potent antibacterial and antifungal properties, thereby safeguarding the integrity of eye drops throughout their shelf life without compromising ocular tissues.

Clinical studies and extensive formulations have underscored EyeBS's efficacy in reducing irritation, dryness, and other issues often linked to prolonged use of standard preservatives. Regulatory approvals in multiple countries further validate its safety, effectiveness, and compatibility with delicate eye tissues.

ENTOD Pharmaceuticals emphasizes that EyeBS provides robust antimicrobial protection while ensuring optimal patient comfort, addressing prevalent challenges associated with the usage of eye drops.
