Spectrum Ophthalmics has released a new line of products for dry eye treatment in the UK. The product range comprises the OptiClear IPL, which is designed to cure dry eye disease (DED), and the 3nethra classic HD fundus camera, which is utilized for diagnosing DED.

The OptiClear IPL utilizes light energy to revive Meibomian glands, thereby clearing blockages and easing symptoms. Spectrum advises that only four treatments are necessary and that it can be used by individuals up to the age of 80+.

The 3nethra classic HD fundus camera is used to capture high-resolution, unaltered images of the retina and other surfaces, such as the cornea, to aid medical professionals in accurately diagnosing DED.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our dry eye range. We firmly believe these clinically proven products will enhance the care clinicians offer their patients, managing care from start to finish and allowing for better results," David Killengray, Managing Director at Spectrum, said in a company news release.

“Providing a solution to dry eye, rather than the use of eye drops which are only ever temporary, the OptiClear IPL machine is cost-effective and clinic friendly, and with no additional consumable costs or click fees, allows for a quick return on investment.  The 3nethra classic HD fundus camera is also well worth purchasing too, opening up the opportunity to diagnose DED symptoms early and accurately," Mr. Killengray said.

The company has made an immediate start and the first OptiClear IPL machine is in use in Newbury, England by optometrist Valarie Jerome, OD.
