Pangaea Data Receives Investment from Topcon Healthcare to Advance AI in Eye Care
Pangaea Data has announced a new investment from Topcon Healthcare aimed at accelerating the deployment of its AI-driven clinical platform. The collaboration will focus on closing care gaps in eye health and systemic diseases, leveraging advanced AI to support earlier diagnosis and treatment. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
AI-Driven Insights to Address Missed Diagnoses
Pangaea’s AI platform is designed to automatically analyze structured and unstructured patient records, emulating a clinician’s manual chart review process. By doing so, the system identifies patients who meet diagnostic or treatment criteria but are not currently receiving care or management.
Integrated directly into existing electronic health record (EHR) systems and downstream scheduling platforms, the solution enables real-time clinical action without disrupting provider workflows.
Supporting Population Health and Value-Based Care

As part of the partnership, Pangaea’s AI solution will integrate with Topcon Healthcare’s Harmony digital health platform, offering optometry and ophthalmology practices the ability to identify patients needing follow-up care or further evaluation.
Key areas of impact include:
• Glaucoma, where up to 50% of patients remain undiagnosed in the United States
• Diabetic retinopathy, where over one-third of diagnosed diabetics do not receive their recommended annual eye screening
