Haag-Streit has recently launched EyeSuite software version i9.13, which comes with new features for the Anterior Chamber Suite of the Eyestar 900, as well as market-first functionality for the Lenstar Myopia. Furthermore, Haag-Streit has made additional improvements to its existing portfolio of IOL calculations.
One notable addition to the Eyestar 900 is the Corneal Ectasia Display, which is part of the feature completion of the Anterior Chamber Suite. This display utilizes OCT-based topography to provide elevation information of both the front and back surface of the cornea, along with pachymetry maps and profiles, Belin ABCD grading, and other complementary parameters. These enhancements aim to assist corneal specialists in identifying even the subtlest signs of ectatic changes, as well as the initial indications of keratoconus during the diagnostic process.
The Anterior Chamber Suite of the Eyestar 900 has also received notable enhancements with EyeSuite software version i9.13. This includes an improved progression view, which allows users to create fully-customizable displays of any measurement and analysis parameter available. Additionally, the imaging tool kit for the Anterior Chamber Suite has been enhanced, enabling users to create B-Scans at any location within the 18mm diameter scan volume, after data acquisition.
Distance, angle, and area measurement tools have also been added for increased versatility. Furthermore, the new refraction-corrected radial scans and measurement tool kit now not only provide visualization of anatomic structures, but also allow for quantification of their size, providing more comprehensive analysis capabilities.
Through a close collaboration with Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaymak, EyeSuite i9.13 now features the exclusive inclusion of Kaymak's Age-Matched Myopia Control (AMMC) framework, which sets new standards in myopia management diagnostics. This groundbreaking feature is only available, as a standard, in the Lenstar Myopia.
AMMC is designed to detect axial myopia and support practitioners in determining the optimal timing for myopia treatment by identifying excessive axial length growth. This is achieved through visualizing yearly axial length growth speed plots, comparing them to the underlying physiological axial length growth of age-matched children. During treatment, AMMC provides valuable information about the therapeutic success, allowing practitioners to quickly assess the efficacy of the chosen treatment or the need for intensification. Moreover, AMMC has the ability to uncover developing myopia based on excessive axial length growth even before it becomes visible in refraction. This enables early intervention in pre-myopic children, keeping axial length growth within a physiological range for better myopia control outcomes.
The Lenstar Myopia, with the newly released EyeSuite i9.13, offers a simplified and parent-friendly visualization of myopia progression through an extended Myopia Report. This innovative feature enables eye care professionals to effectively communicate with parents and helps them understand the progression of myopia and the efficacy of the chosen therapy. This makes the Lenstar Myopia the first device in the market to truly facilitate patient education, enhancing the overall patient experience.
In addition to the enhanced myopia progression visualization, EyeSuite i9.13 also includes further improvements to the IOL calculations. Two new Olsen formulae, "Olsen (measured)" and "Olsen (model-based)", have been added, allowing operators to compare and choose between different methods. Furthermore, Barrett True-K support for measured posterior data has been incorporated, resulting in improved patient outcomes and enhanced precision in IOL calculations.
"The AMMC framework is based on the growth of emmetropic eyes. Instead of comparing absolute axial length measurements, axial length growth is visualized over time. This enables easier detection of excessive axial length growth, while at the same time providing a clear and understandable treatment goal," Dominic Ernst, Lenstar Myopia Product Manager, said in a company news release. “The alliance with Prof. Dr. Kaymak and his team continues to help us understand the clinical challenges eye care professionals face in day-to-day work. We are proud to exclusively provide a tool, crafted by these leading experts in myopia management, to help eye care professionals fight the battle against myopia.”
