Topcon Partners with OKKO Health to Expand Home Vision Monitoring

July 24, 2025

Topcon Healthcare has announced a strategic investment in OKKO Health, a UK-based digital health company specializing in vision testing software. While the financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, Topcon leads OKKO Health’s seed funding round, further expanding its presence in remote patient monitoring technologies.

OKKO Health's Mobile Vision Monitoring Platform

OKKO Health has developed a home vision monitoring platform that operates entirely on a patient's personal smartphone, eliminating the need for additional hardware. The platform combines advanced vision science, gamified testing experiences, and data analytics to enable patients to track their visual function in real-time between clinical visits.

This approach is intended to facilitate the early detection of subtle vision changes, particularly in chronic conditions such as macular diseases, and encourages patients to re-engage with their eye care providers as needed.

“Our app transforms vision tests into engaging puzzle games, making it easier for people to understand and track their visual function in daily life,” said Dr. Stephanie Campbell, Founder and CEO of OKKO Health. “With Topcon Healthcare’s support, we’re thrilled to expand our reach and help patients stay connected with care teams when it matters most.”

Alignment with Topcon’s Digital Eye Health Ecosystem

According to Ali Tafreshi, CEO and President of Topcon Healthcare, the partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering predictive, personalized, and accessible eye care. Topcon’s “Healthcare from the Eye” initiative leverages ocular data to monitor both ocular and systemic health conditions, integrating seamlessly with OKKO’s patient-centered mobile platform.

“OKKO Health’s solution is an ideal complement to our digital eye health ecosystem,” Tafreshi stated. “It enables clinicians to maintain visibility into patients’ visual function between visits, improving care responsiveness and outcomes. This aligns perfectly with our mission to enable proactive and data-driven eye care on a global scale.”

The U.S. launch of OKKO Health’s home vision monitoring platform is currently in progress.
