The 40th Congress of ESCRS Welcomes its Participants in Milan

Friday, September 16 - The 40th Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) has opened its gates to participants at the Milano Convention Centre in Milan, Italy. This is the second face-to-face ESCRS Congress since the pandemic hit the globe in 2019. 

The first day of the Congress is full of excitement and enthusiasm as industry players in the have gathered together to seize networking opportunities with more than 1,000 fellow participants, while finding a chance to catch up on the latest developments in cataract and refractive surgery.

What’s in store for participants today? 

iNovation® Day

iNovation Day marks the start of a new annual tradition in the ESCRS community. The symposium will kick off immediately prior to the main opening of the Congress, and will bring together clinicial and business experts from around the world. 

Sessions will focus on the most urgent clinical needs, barriers to success, regulatory changes, reimbursement trends and projected 2023 innovations in the ophthalmic field. The program will feature focus panel discussions with eyecare professionals and business partners to stimulate debate and get answers to hard questions. 

In addition, several networking opportunities will be available with doctors and executives with established, emerging, public and private companies as well as capital market leaders.

Now let’s have a look at the main programme of the ESCRS 

The Congress will kick off with three main symposiums: 

● The World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus will hold their WSPOS Subspecialty Day from 08:00-18:00

● Cornea Day - organized by the Cornea Committee of the ESCRS and EuCornea from 08:00-15:30 

● Glaucoma Day - organized by the GlaucomaCommittee of the ESCRS and EGS from 08:00-15:30 

The afternoon will continue with IME Symposium Phaco Complex Cases from 16:00-17:00, which will be followed by ESCRS/EuCornea Symposum at 17:00. 

Exhibition will be open starting from 13:00 until 18:00, providing attendees the opportunity to view the latest products and solutions developed by the participant companies. Instructional Courses will begin at 17:15-18:15, and the first day will finalize with a symposium entitled ‘Experts Discuss Latest Innovations’ at 19:15-20:15.
