Oertli Instrumente announced the opening of its new Lean Factory facility at its primary location in Berneck, Eastern Switzerland. Over 120 esteemed guests, including prominent figures from the realms of politics and business, as well as valued partners in the field of ophthalmology, had the privilege of gaining exclusive access to the three-story edifice.

Following a reception, the invited attendees received an engaging overview of the ophthalmology market, presented by the Co-CEOs Christoph and Thomas Bosshard. Subsequently, they embarked on guided tours of the company in small groups, where they witnessed the intricate production of precision instruments, whether through automated processes or skilled craftsmanship. Since research and development activities are also based in Berneck, the product management team provided valuable insights into the dynamic development procedures.

The new Lean Factory spans an impressive 11,000 square meters and is purpose-built to enhance production efficiency and capacity, aligning with the growth targets set by the family-owned company. With an investment of approximately 30 million Swiss francs, this state-of-the-art facility underscores Oertli's unwavering commitment to a sustainable future and its steadfast dedication to Swiss precision quality.

On the ground floor, one can find a newly established clean room for the manufacturing of sterile products, along with a fully automated warehouse management system that represents a groundbreaking transformation in inventory management. The first floor is dedicated to parts production, housing several CNC machines, additional production areas, and office spaces. Meanwhile, the second floor is the site of the Oertli Square, a sunlit, multifunctional space designed to serve as a source of inspiration and a meeting point for employees, partners, and customers. It also doubles as a venue for wetlabs and training courses.

At present, approximately 300 employees are actively engaged at the Berneck facility, consistently delivering a pivotal impact to ensure the preservation of eyesight for more than 2 million individuals globally. Alongside its main establishment in Berneck, Oertli Instrumente AG maintains five subsidiary locations in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, South Africa, and the USA.
