September 29, 2023

Oculus announced a strategic partnership with Luvo aimed at introducing innovative specialty care devices to the optometry and ophthalmology market in the United States.

As part of this partnership, Oculus is introducing two cutting-edge products, the Luvo Lucent and Darwin, both equipped with Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and Radio Frequency therapy capabilities. These devices have been meticulously designed to empower eye care professionals to offer secure, efficient, and comfortable treatments within their own offices.

The Lucent IPL and Darwin multi-modality workstation deliver IPL therapy using various wavelengths to address a range of conditions. This versatile feature enables eye care practitioners to efficiently manage patients and administer treatment without the need for external referrals.

Eye care professionals will appreciate the array of IPL applications, multiple pulse modes, and advanced cooling technology available, all facilitated by a user-friendly interface that simplifies treatment parameter selection based on individual skin types.

Additionally, the Darwin workstation includes a Thermal Radio Frequency (Refresh RF) handpiece that complements IPL therapy, allowing eye care professionals to treat patients irrespective of their skin type. Using Non-Pole Thermal Structure (NTTSTM) technology, the Darwin system precisely delivers focused and consistent thermal energy to the targeted area, as specified by Oculus.

"Maintaining our dedication to specialty eye care, Oculus had been searching for the ideal treatment partner to align with our premium diagnostic equipment. With Luvo's superior quality, shared corporate values, and experience in the Canadian eye care market, we knew we had found our partner,” TJ Flynn, Director of Business Development for Oculus, said in a company news release. “We look forward to introducing these devices to the market the way ECPs expect, with an emphasis on education and unparalleled customer support."

Oculus is set to introduce the Lucent and Darwin devices to the US ophthalmic market for the inaugural time, showcasing them at two prominent events: Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, booth #F13053, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology in San Francisco, booth #1431.
