Microsurgical Technology (MST) has announced a strategic partnership with Japanese manufacturer Mani Inc., under which MST will serve as the exclusive distributor of Mani’s ophthalmic surgical blade portfolio in the United States. This move marks MST’s entry into the U.S. ophthalmic custom kit packing market and strengthens its position in the field of ophthalmic surgical instrumentation.
The agreement is backed by the recent establishment of Mani Medical America, a newly formed U.S. subsidiary of Mani Inc., designed to enhance market access and local operations.
While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, MST confirmed that the partnership will primarily focus on the distribution of blades, cannulas, and other disposable instruments used in ophthalmic surgeries.
Mani’s ophthalmic surgical blades are utilized in a wide range of procedures, including:
• Cataract surgery
• Corneal surgery
• Glaucoma treatments
By combining MST’s established customer relationships and market presence with Mani’s high-quality surgical blade offering, the partnership is expected to significantly improve accessibility to reliable surgical tools across the U.S.
“We are thrilled to form this strategic alliance with Mani Inc. and Mani Medical America,” said Erik Bror Bonn, Chief Business Officer of Microsurgical Technology, in a company news release.
“Mani's premier surgical blade portfolio aligns perfectly with MST's commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative products that meet the distinct clinical needs of surgeons. MST has a long history of supporting our customers in their complex cataract needs, which will always remain our core. We are now expanding that support by providing our customers with high-quality products for their every case needs."
Bonn further emphasized that the partnership will enable MST to deliver a broader range of cutting-edge surgical instruments and customized solutions, ensuring ophthalmic surgeons have the tools they need for optimal patient care.
