Alcon has announced the U.S. launch of PRECISION7, a groundbreaking contact lens designed for a convenient one-week replacement cycle. Incorporating the advanced 7-day ACTIV-FLO system, these lenses offer up to 16 hours of comfort and clear vision, even on the seventh day of use. This innovative product aims to bridge the gap between cost-effective reusable lenses and the convenience of daily disposables.
While nearly 90% of eye care professionals (ECPs) recommend daily disposables for their superior hygiene and comfort, over half of new contact lens patients still opt for reusable lenses due to cost considerations. Alcon’s launch of PRECISION7 addresses this issue, introducing a more affordable and easy-to-remember weekly replacement schedule. According to ECPs, a one-week cycle may be simpler for patients to follow than traditional two-week replacement schedules.
“We are making history with the bold innovation of PRECISION7,” said Max Wolf, General Manager, Head of Vision Care and Contact Lenses at Alcon. “With our first-of-its-kind ACTIV-FLO technology, patients can now start and end each week with fresh lenses. This is also the first time we are introducing both sphere and toric lenses simultaneously in the U.S., allowing ECPs to address a broad range of patient needs right from the start.”
PRECISION7’s ACTIV-FLO technology combines a moisturizing agent embedded within the lens matrix and a unique replenishing agent to maintain hydration for a full seven days. This technology is particularly beneficial for wearers who experience dryness or discomfort with other reusable lenses, providing a lasting and consistent moisture barrier.
“Research shows that three out of four contact lens wearers want their ECPs to inform them about new technologies,” said Jason Compton, OD, FAAO. “PRECISION7 offers a practical option for patients who cannot opt for daily disposables, delivering long-lasting comfort and precise vision at an accessible price point.”
PRECISION7 joins Alcon’s WaterInnovations line, which includes DAILIES TOTAL1, PRECISION1, and TOTAL30. These lenses are specifically crafted to address challenges like digital eye strain and dryness, meeting the demands of today’s visually intensive lifestyles.
• Immediate Access: Select ECPs in the U.S. are now offering PRECISION7 lenses.
• Broader Release: Full U.S. availability is slated for January 2025, with an international rollout planned soon afterward.
Available in both sphere and toric versions, the simultaneous U.S. launch of these options marks a first for Alcon. This dual release enables ECPs to offer a tailored solution for a wide range of vision correction needs from the start.
Alcon’s introduction of PRECISION7 represents a significant step forward in contact lens technology, making extended comfort and reliable vision accessible to more patients.
