Saturday, September 17 - The second day of the ESCRS Congress is going to be a day filled with many activities, such as live surgery sessions, courses and most importantly symposiums. Through this unique schedule, learning opportunities will be available in many areas including eye diseases, therapeutic techniques in IOL technology and corneal surgery.

The programme will start with a Clinical Research Symposium entitled ‘Digital Medicine - 6 steps for a better future’, which will be followed by three other sessions under the topics of ‘Ocular tissue engineering’, ‘Advancement of IOL optic, and ‘Gene therapy’.

Additionally, the more junior ophthalmologists among attendees will have the chance to network and learn tips and tricks in the “Young Ophthalmologists Programme”, which begins at 08:30. At the same time, EBO accredited ‘Refractive Surgery Didactic Course’ will be held in three different sessions covering topics such as diagnostic techniques, intraocular surgery and corneal surgery.

The European Society of Ophthalmic Nurses and Technicians (ESONT) will be delivering a number of courses today from 08:30 until 17:30. In the meantime, participants will attend the Main Symposium about ‘Demystifying IOLs Optics’, while others might enjoy seeing the exhibition to learn about the latest innovative products of major biotechnology companies.

There will also be a live surgery and a video symposium on challenging cases - a topic which is very appealing to many. ‘Wetlabs’ sessions will be available for attendees throughout the day, while several companies are scheduled to conduct ‘Satellite Symposiums’ about their recent innovations in the cataract and refractive surgery.
