OD-OS, a German company offering solutions for retina treatments, has announced the launch of a new software for its Navilas® Laser System 577s to enable remote access for ophthalmologists to the device to pre-plan, or overview their retinal laser treatment. The new technology will also offer retina experts the opportunity to observe live procedures performed by trainees.
Addressing the challenges surfaced in ophthalmology during the COVID-19 pandemic, when retina treatments or lectures were affected or somewhat suspended by lockdowns and restrictions, the company is pleased to offer distant access to experts in times when sources are limited, regardless of a need of a physical place.
Dr. med. Simo Murovski, Augenzentrum Erzgebirge, Germany: "Planning retinal laser treatments remotely and virtually assisting young colleagues allows us to focus on what is important, namely efficient, targeted treatment for the benefit of the patient. Who would have thought 10 years ago that something like this can be possible."
Navilas®is a laser treatment system for common retinal procedures, and is designed to offer fast and comfortable laser therapy for patients suffering from retinal diseases. Its DICOM interface and integration of external diagnostic images enable digital documentation for analysis and standardization of the designed therapy.
